Welcome to The Old Plough Inn Restaurant

In 2014, The Old Plough Inn was re-opened under new ownership as a restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and fantastic food cooked by chef and co-owner, John Gregory. To find out more, visit the About Us page.

The ‘Old Plough Inn’ is over 200 years old and, until the early 1980’s, incorporated into the village shop. Innkeepers here have often combined the two jobs – Sandy Jackson in 1832 was victualler and blacksmith, Elizabeth Strafford in 1864 was victualler and baker, whilst John Gale in 1881 was victualler and grocer. Egmanton originally had two other inns, but by 1880 both the ‘New Plough’ and the ‘Rose and Crown’ were no more.

Several times each year there are pilgrimages to the famous local church nearby and the inn is blessed as the pilgrims pass by.
